Traditional gambling markets contained natural stopping points: closing hours, travel, cash on hand, the end of a race card. Continuous online markets have removed most of them.
This issue paper examines what disappears along with that friction — and where regulation might reasonably attach when a market never closes. In-play betting, same-game parlays, and event contracts each shorten the interval between impulse and transaction; the natural pause that once ended a session must now be supplied by design or by the user.
